I started my images profession as a vogue and struggle photographer in my homeland of Israel. I’m now a wildlife photographer, explorer and motivational speaker. For 40 years, from the Excessive Arctic to Antarctica, I’ve pursued my quest with a digicam to dispel the parable of “harmful wildlife” and to boost compassion towards these wild creatures. I execute my mission by inviting choose folks to affix my expeditions, which goal to encourage harmonious interactions between man and large animals.

On one such journey to Ellesmere Island, Canada, within the late summer season, the ice was largely gone, and polar bears have been transferring from island to island looking for meals, together with birds’ eggs on the hill cliffs. I used to be there to focus on the lives of threatened and endangered wildlife to assist increase consciousness and safety after I noticed this household of two cubs, every at the least 18 months previous, with their mom. It was a uncommon sighting because it’s widespread that by that age just one cub out of two will make it.

The second was too treasured, and we began following them. The hungry household needed to go from one island to the following till they obtained to the tall cliffs the place the birds have been nesting. We entered the water from the alternative island, dealing with the incoming bears from about 200 meters away. My security diver and I treaded water for over 20 minutes because the household made their manner towards the island, protecting their eyes on us the entire time. We remained nonetheless and in a single place and allowed the bears to make their transfer. When the household was lastly 5 meters in entrance of us, the security diver and I signaled one another, and we submerged to four meters under. The bears continued on, us underwater, maybe in curiosity and in peace. From the second I noticed the household within the body, I started holding my breath to forestall any bubbles from getting within the image and waited for this precise second when all three bears have been us. We didn’t transfer towards the celebration because the household continued in their very own path proper above our heads.
